Could I be pregnant and still get nagative results
I was wondering if I could be pregnant and still get negative test results from an at home pregnancy test and a blood test.I have most of the signs such as being tired, cramping as well as felling bloated, and most definitely mood swings and some not much weight gain. If so what should I do?I'm not on any medication and I've been off birth control for about a month. But I have been known to be irregular .

If u had unprotected s** then there is 75% chance your pregnant but sometimes it can vary according to your age.

You can get a false reading from an at home test, but I blood test, NO. That's what they are for, to test for pregnancy for 100%. You could very well have a bladder infection. Or just PMS! If this continues for an unreasonable amount of time I would suggest contacting your physician. I wish you the best of luck. Perhaps take some Midol. I love the stuff. I take it for headaches and other non-pms-related symptoms... GOOD luck to you,

ChihuahuaMomma disagrees: Are you kidding me? If you had unprotected sex there is a 100% chance that you COULD be pregnant...
There is not always a 100% chance you could be pregnant when having unprotected sex. Look at it this way... If there was a 100% chance that a woman could get pregnant having unprotected sex, she would get pregnant virtually every time she has unprotected sex.

If she does not have sex on or around ovulation time, she usually does not get pregnant. You could stop your period today, have sex, and the chances of you getting pregnant are very slim.

    but I blood test, NO
This is a very common misconception that I only learned about last week. There are other reasons that a woman can have a positive blood test when she, in fact, is not pregnant, such as a hydatidiform mole, choriocarcinoma, pelvic infections and tumors.

There are only 3 things that are 100% positive when diagnosing pregnancy...

    1) Fetal heart tones heard by dopplar
    2) Fetal movements felt by the doctor/nurse
    And
    3) Visualization of fetus on ultrasound.

It is possible that you are pregnant, but not far enough along for the hCG to register on the urine/blood tests.

When was your last period? Have you missed one yet? Are you on any medications? Medication can cause missed periods. Birth control? If so, what kind and for how long.

There is so much info missing here we cannot give an accurate response.

I said that there is a 100% CHANCE. And I didn't know that there were ways to get a false positive on a blood test. I was told that a blood test is the only definitive way to tell whether a woman is pregnant or not.

I used to think so too, until last week, that's why I gave you a greenie rather than a reddie. But, come to find out, it's not true. There are several reasons a blood test comes out positive when it is actually negative.

Yes, but she was saying that hers is negative and she was wondering if it was a false positive.

    But thanks for the information.

I am very tired after clinicals today... But how can a negative be a false positive?

If you can show me that I will be happy to retract my statement.

I have no problem admitting I am wrong at times, heck we all are, we are human. But please show me this and I will take everything back.
