    Ex-Wife won't pay
My ex-wife when she left drew up a (Property Settlement) and had it notorized. I know this isn't suppose to be legally binding but... She had a Ford Explorer that she left with and in the settlement assumed responsibility for it. Well she never would take my name off it and just quit making the payments. Of course the bank repossess the vehicle and the vehicle is sold. Now there is still $6500 owed on the loan. I sued her and we went to court and the Judge ruled she is responsible for the debt. We leave the courthouse and she said I she would never pay a penny of it. And she hasn't. Now she has quit her job, Yep no income. She's remarried. Now the Bank is hounding me for the payment. Question? What do I do next. They are threatening to garnish my wages. Is there any recourse? We are in the State of Virginia.

Mmm, sticky situation and you are between a rock and a hard spot and probably catch-22. I wouldn't want to be there with you. I suggest you get a good attorney to sort this all out but in the long run, how will you make her pay? It doesn't sound like she cares for barriers, repercussions... the law. She just doesn't care and probably thinks she can escape this like forever.

Sorry, just my opinion of your situation and it doesn't sound good and I hope you will find some closure here.

    Pondcrest, good luck !

No, even divorce court can not change the status of the loan. You can take her back to court, try and get her found in contempt, and see if you can go after any money she has, but this is what happens in dirvorce all the time.

Can I put a lien on anything she owns whether alone or jointly?
