Cramping 2 weeks prior to Period
I had my period 2 weeks ago and I'm crapping so bad that it knocks the wind out of me and drops me to my knees. Any ideas... been going on for 2 days now. Anyone have any ideas... My tubes are tied so I'm not pg.
    Thanks all!

Once I hit 40 I started getting incredibly bad cramps about 2 weeks before my period was due. My tubes are tied too. My doctor told me that I was getting cramps from ovulating. It lasts about 7 or 8 hours and I'm usually able to take care of them with Advil. And I make a note of the day I get them. Sure enough, I get my period exactly 14 days later.

Thanks for the words of wisdom and all... Wondering if I should go to the doctor... I'm getting sharp pains now in my lower ribs and it wraps around my whole chest... Don't know if they are related, but I'm thinking a Drs Apt is in need.

Thanks Lisa for answering this, you are so right.

I have to ask you All4Noah, are you having pains on the right, left or both sides?

A dr's appointment is always appropriate when there is something going on with your body that you don't understand.

The cramps are on the right side the chest pains start at my lower back and move up my spine and wrap around my chest making breathing very difficult and talking impossible... they don't last long though...

Have you been checked out for possible gall stones?

Good point J-9 when I statred having problems with my gallbladder the pain started in my back then to my chest, before long I was up all night with the attacks and vomiting, needless to say it was removed 7 days after the birth of my daughter, it was so bad.
All4noah I would defeently get this checked.
Does the pain come on out of now where or does it occur more after you eat?

No, I haven't been checked for gallstones, but my hubby went through that and he said that what he had wasn't anything like what I'm explaining. I do have asthma so I've taken my inhaler which isn't helping the "tighting in my chest" that the pain is causing. I've tried heating pad for the cramps (little relief not much) I taken the inhaler like I said, I've taken advil (too soon to tell) and I've been drinking water (my mom told me to!)... Any one have any other thoughts?

Gallstones can give several different signs, how frequent are they?
Do they occur when your standing, sitting, or lying down?

Standing and sitting... Haven't had any "Pains" since I laid down 10 minutes ago. The pain comes about every 20-30 minutes lasting anywhere from 3-8 minutes. The cramps are different... no real pattern to them.

My first attacks started light like that when I would sit or stand I didn't think it was my gallbladder because they occurred at different times I was also pregnant and a cople of times it hurt so bad in my back that I just knew it was back labor, they always started in my back then went up to rightshoulder blade and back to my chest, the pain then started going to my stomach and waking me up at night, the only relief was a hot shower at three in the morning to relieve the pain in my back.
I tried everything that I could to help with the pain, tylnol, tums, pepto, nothing worked.
When they started causing me to become very sick and vomit I knew I had to get it checked and sure enough it was the gallbladder with tons of stones.

I had two pieces of pizza for supper, and a piece of cheesecake for dessert. Drank water, and a pepsi. Not the healthest meal.

I really hope you post an update here. I ended up in the ER in March with similar symptoms. I was washing dishes after work, around midnight my back started aching really bad, my upper back felt really tired and I could not finish, I sat down and the pain started coming around the front on my ribcage, just below my breasts. I couldn't hardly handle the pain, about 6 am called a friend to take me to ER, didn't see anyone till 7:30 and the pain pretty much went off the charts and I started vomiting. I believe I was vomiting because of the pain being so great. They finally gave me some phenergan about the time it was stopping on its own, they thought it was my gallbladder but I had all the tests and they were so sure that they set the date for the surgery before knowing the results, well it wasn't my gallbladder at all. They don't know what it was exactly but a few months later I was talking to my chiropractor about it and he agreed with my idea that it may have been a back injury from work as the muscles from your back wrap around up to your chest. I guess I will never know for sure unless it happens again, so I hope I never know.

I've had no vomiting and I slept really well. Although this morning I feel light headed, or a light headache. But I haven't eaten either so we'll see what happens when I eat. Thank you everyone for getting me through last night. I hope that I never feel those pains again...

With gallstones you won't vomit every time just when the pain gets very severe, it took mines weeks before it got to that point because I kept brushing it off as pregnancy pains.
Please consider just seeing the doctor they can run simple enzyme test at their office to see if your liver is abnormal which indicates it could be your gallbladder.
