Threatened with eviction from Condo after 16 days
The Condo Board President claims that he has the eviction papers ready to evict me after only living in the condo 16 days. He doesn't live there; but he has "heard" that my girlfriend is loud and disturbs the peace by driving erratically. All of this is hearsay. The president calls my family & friends to find "gossip". He has even stated to me on the phone that if I don't move out someone will "shoot me" or "kill me". So it's better that I leave.
I am in my 20's, work hard, and I'm very rarely there.
The condo board president is also trying to evict another 20+ year old for making noise at the pool.
My landlord who is his "best friend" doesn't live there either. He says that if I agree to move when/if he finds another tenant the supposed eviction will be stopped. I should also pay the realtor's fee of $2,000. I signed a one year lease. The landlord never gave me the condo rules, never had the condo interview me, and still hasn't done the repairs requested in the application to lease. (such as loose wiring, no bulbs, filthy conditions, carpet stains, etc.)
    Thanks:confused:

Call their bluff. Tell them to proceed with the eviction. The eviction process goes like this. First they serve you with a notice to vacate. Generally you are given 3-7 days. If you are still there after that time, then they have to go to court to obtain an eviction order. This means there will be a hearing during which you can testify. This also means they will have to prove you have violated the lease or the condo rules. If the situation is as you state, the judge will throw them out. You can then ask the judge to issue a restraining order against them harassing you.

That's why I think it's a bluff. They know they can't get a court to issue an eviction order.

By the way if they are only harassing 20 something's you may also be able to get them on a federal discrimination in housing rap.
