    Receptacles not working
I hope that someone will be able to provide some additional steps to take to investigate the cause of my problem.

My house was built in the 1950's, and has two panel boxes, one fuse box for the original, older portion of the house and a circuit breaker box for the addition and remodeled portion.

I recently plugged a large, rented slushee machine into an older receptacle, and immediately blew the 30 amp fuse. I (stupidly) tried two other receptacles, on the same run, and each time the fuse went.

Finally got the machine running via an extension cord to the new part of the house.

Since then, though, I have had no power to any of the receptacles on that run. I have replaced the fuse with numerous new ones, but I am unable to get power to any of the receptacles on the line.

I did unscrew all the receptacles on that run to see if the wires are still properly attached (they are). I also tried to locate a possible tripped GFI, but no luck (and it is the old wiring, so I did not expect that to be the problem anyway).

Is there some way I can isolate the source of the problem using my voltmeter?

I am not sure what diagnostic process will help me find the problem.

    Thank you!

The short circuit may have damaged the fuse holder, or there is a splice or connection in the circuit that has been burnt open. This open connection could be in the live or neutral wire.

Start testing for voltage at the panel, the fuse holder, and each junction box between the panel and outlet.
