Wiring of a 200AMP main panel - SEU wires entry point
Hello, I am putting a new 200AMP main panel in a service upgrade. Its location is a little higher than the meter socket. The panel and the meter are back to back on a wall (meter outside, panel inside). Main disconnect is at the top of the panel, as are the connections for the SEU cable.

Can I make an entry with the SEU cable (3 x 4/0) from the bottom of the panel and run the 3 wires to their connectors at the top? If this is not allowed, can I run the cable on one side of the panel without a conduit, then go up for 4 feet and make an entry from the top right side or from the top of the panel? If none of these are possible what is my option?

Yes, you can enter the panelboard at the bottom and lay the wires in a bundle to either side to run to the connections to the top.

Be sure to remove the sheathing from the cable just after entering the connector.

Be sure to have an insulating bushing on threads of the connectors on the inside of the panel and meter.

Hi tkrussell, thank you very much for your help.

I can actually turn the panel around and save myself from doing all the difficult things I intended to do. The insulating bushings I did not know about, so thanks for saving me from needing to buy them on a short notice.
