    Mellon Collie art.
I ask this question to anyone familiar with different styles of art and the band Smashing Pumpkins.

I was wondering what the name of the artwork found on the Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (on the cover, the booklet, etc.)

I was just wondering because I wanted to start looking for different styles of this art.

If anyone is familiar with this art style and actually knows the band I'm talking about (which I don't think is uncommon at all) please reply.

    Thank you.

I did find a little information about the artwork on the cover. The key as to the type of art would seem to be that it is collage with inspirations from the Renaissance, High Renaissance and the Romantic period in art.

    Quote:

    Artwork
Art direction for the album is credited to Frank Olinsky and Billy Corgan. The actual illustrations are digital collages put together by John Craig. The design for the album cover was inspired by a combination of the face from the painting Fidelity by Jean Baptiste Greuze and the body from the painting Saint Catherine of Alexandria by Raphael.
