I have a bathroom sink drain that is clogged-I have tried everything to clear it including plunging, chemicals,augers and water jet type devices. The clog is in the basement drain probably after the 90 degree turn and in the center pipe leading to the large main drain, this is probably why the snake won't work( unable to make the sharp turn). The house is fifty years old using heavy duty pipe. My only choices are to try to remove the center drain (probably impossible due to it being in place so long) or cut it, remove the clog and then splice using pvc or radiater type hosing. Can I do this and how do you recommend doing it?. Thanks Rocco

I have used clorox on clogs and after a few hours it cleared, but it tends to eat through copper pipe

You can use pvc pipe and fittings with no-hub coupling on both sides.
