The clog is in the basement drain probably after the 90 degree turn and in the center pipe leading to the large main drain, this is probably why the snake wont work( unable to make the sharp turn). The house is fifty years old using heavy duty pipe. My only choices are to try to remove the center drain (probably impossible due to it being in place so long) or cut it, remove the clog and then splice using pvc or radiater type hosing.
