I want to break my lease in the state of fl
I need to move back home to vt and my dad and I signed a lease until aug08. I can't find a sublet and I need to leave soon because of school(registration) and work. What can I do? Will it affect our credit?

You can move out; but you are required to continue paying the rent until the landlord is able to rent the property or the terms of the lease end, which ever comes first. If you don't pay, your landlord can sue you for the money owed to him/her.

You can talk to your landlord and hope he/she will be a nice person and offer you an "escape clause" which might cost you less; for example he will let you out of the lease if you pay a two-month rent penalty. If your landlord does this, however, he/she is being very generous. If you've been a good tenant, your chances of this are much better.

The last option is to move out, don't pay, get sued and still don't pay. That will ruin your credit and your rental history.
