It was a movie that came out maybe in the late 80's or early 90's. The movie was based off the book but in a newer time version. All I remember that was out of the ordinary was the only way they could defeat the giant was by feeding him a huge red gummy person (kinda looked like a sour patch kid) I will try to remember more but that's all I have at the moment.

And it is not a cartoon

I remember this movie too, but I can not remember the name of it for the life of me. Did Jack's mom work at a construction site? Wasn't Jack friends with a girl in the movie too? Do you remember any of the actors?

I've been looking for it for about five years (I barely remember if from my childhood). It's called Beanstalk from 1994.

OMG, I cannot believe you knew it, thank you soooooo much, this has been driving me crazy for the longest time. I looked for it on YOU TUBE and it was there. I am glad it is real and not something I just imagined.
