    Stinky dog
My Lab mix is only 6 months old but he stinks more than my adult 10 year old Golden mix. Do labs smell more than most breeds? If I change his food would that help? We bath him but in just a day he stinks again. What to do?

I would make sure he is not rolling on foul smelling things. If not then I would take him to the vet and explain this. It may be something that the vet can give him medication for. My dog had a fungal infection of the skin, she was given meds and the problem or odor has not reoccurred.

One of the biggest problems with Labs is ear infections. If it has been an on going problem, I would thing the vet would have picked up on it when you had him in for shots. I feed a decent chow, brush regularly, and seldom if ever bathe my dogs. They do fine with no odor problem. My one hasn't had a bath in the 4 years I have had her. That is with taking her public places, even carry in dinners.

Another common problem is finding things to roll in, even its own Feces. Just cleaning up its relief area might make a difference.

Have you discussed this with the vet? There are some skin conditions that cause odor problems. There should be a better solution to this than baths.

I do the brushing and I feed nutro natural choice. He has had two check ups but no ear infection I smelled his ears it seems to be coming from his skin. We have a terraced yard that is impossible to keep him out of the slopes. I think it is coming out of his skin. Someone told me they switched foods and their dog smelled better. Hmmmm!

I don't know many people feeding Nutro and other expensive chows. I do know I see more questions from people feeding Nutro than from common brands such as the Pro Plan I feed and Iams.
