    closet flange & vertical drop
    HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

My husband & I are relocating the toilet in our bathroom. My question is…can I have a vertical drop (straight down 3’) from the closet flange (4” pipe), connect to a 4x3 closet ell, connect to a 3” pipe (4 foot run @1/4”/foot), connect to a sanitary tee (for the 2” vent), then go directly into the sewer?

    What a long question!

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi Lisa,

I don't know the code where you live but it looks good to me. Are you quite sure the vent is called for. It would seem the toilet would vent through the system if a vented fixture were near. Cheers, Tom

My real concern was having a 3’ drop directly under the closet flange.
    Hi Tom!

I was hopping you “Speedball1” would answer. I’ve been searching the forum & you are certainly the plumbing pro around here.

Thanks for the reply. I need a 2” vent for the toilet. My real concern was having a 3’ drop directly under the closet flange. Typically, (I think) the 4x3 closet ell attaches directly to the closet flange.

    Thanks for the advice Tom!

    Hey Lisa,

" My real concern was having a 3’ drop directly under the closet flange."

Hey! That's good. It gives a little more speed and momentum to the flush.
You're going to be fine. Cheers, Tom
