running windows XP - can't close task manager - no X on top - right clicking doesn't help - no close option - how do I close it without rebooting:confused:

Left click on it to make it active, then hold the ALT key and press F4 (Alt + F4) to close any active window.

Press alt+f4 it will do it

just double click on the box and you will get back the X button

Go to the processes tab and highlight taskmgr.exe and choose end process
