    Cheerleading is killing my wrist!
    Personally I don't know what's wrong with it
    But gradually my wrist started to get worse and worse
    To where it's reached constant pain,
    And at practice it gets to where its so painful I can't help but cry?
    And like for real I'm use to pain
    I was a competitive gymnast and suffered through some major back problems
    Until my coach made me see and doctor where I was told it was either quit or surgery
    ):
    So now I cheer and my wrists are the problem...
    I've tried taping them
    Icing them
    Nothing
    One is worse than the other
    And its manageble pain until we start tumbling and stunting
    I just want to know what's wrong with it?
    And what I can do to help it?

    I'd suggest quitting the activities that harm you, personally.

    But its not so easy to just quit competitive cheerleading
    I made a commitment to the team
    And team that really needs me
    We have a reputation for being national champions
    And if everyone just quit every time they had a little boo boo
    We wouldn't be nationaly ranked like we are...

    He was the one who told me to quit gymnastics

    Cheerleading is just as stressful as gymnastics for your wrists and back and the rest of your body. He told you to quit because they harm your body. Although you may have made a commitment to your team, your commitment to yourself should be stronger, and continually straining and injury or weakened wrist, back, anything, can put you at risk for arthritis, and many other painful injuries.

    This is all very true!

    Perhaps there might be some ways around this in order for you to remain on the team.

    Is it possible for you to do any routines without you being one to tumble or stunt? Could things possibly be altered in some way so that you don't have to be putting so much stress on your wrists? If not, then this might be an activity that you may have to give up.

    Concerning the chiropractor - I am a professional pianist. When I go to the chiropractor, besides having my back adjusted, he also adjusts my wrists. It does wonders for them!

    I guess my bets bet would to see a doctor...
    And if he tells me to quit this time
    I'm going to be done for sure!

    The doctor's advice, or course, would be best. But, is there any possibility for altering anything that you might do so that you could remain on the team?

    I'll still be able to be on the team,
    I'll just have to be a alternate
    Which means I won't compete
    So really there's no way for me to stay without hurting myself even more

    I don't know anything about cheerleading, but I have tendinitis which kills my wrists when I do certain activities. When your wrists start to hurt just go easy on them for a while if you have tendinitis and you will be fine. You should definitely see a doctor though they might suggest physio or a splint.

    How much time do you have left in the season? How old are you? If you still have several years left to compete, you need to go to the doctor.. and if your out for the rest of the season then your out.. but you need to rest your wrists and take care of yourself. If you let them have time to heal, you can come back stronger next season. I know exactly where your coming from though.. I used to compete in gymnastics and I've cheered practically all of my life.. so I feel your pain! Just take a break and come back strong next season.. if you keep putting so much stress on your wrists, you are going to hurt them to the point where you won't ever get to cheer again.
    Your choice..
    1 season.. or never again.

    I'm 14
    And a freshman in high school
    So I do have 4 more years
    And our season is over in February
    After nationals
    The thing is this is probeble going to be my last year cheering
    Because I just have bigger commitments in other places
    So yeah
    And we ahd one girl quit a wek before our first competition
    And she's not the most well liked girl now
    And I just don't want to be her
    ):

    Well.. if its not where your heart is and you have other obligations in the futures,maybe its best if you quit anyway.. Cheerleading, as in many other sports, is only for the dedicated at heart. And as for the other girls, oh well, they'll get over it. It's not your fault that your wrists hurt too bad to participate.
