Could I be pregnant after missing the depo shot or how long could it take?
I was wondering I have been on the depo shot for about a year now. I missed my shot on Oct. 23, 2007 which was about three weeks ago and I have been having unprotected sex ever since. Could I be pregnant because I am getting symptoms? Or How long could it take to get pregnant? Right away? I need some help!!

I have been on the depo shot for a few years now. If you read the booklet that comes in the box it says it takes a few months to a year or more to completely leave your system. You should get your needle as soon as possible though

    Every woman is different.
So while the depo shot may take a long time to get out of one persons system, it may clear anothers quickly.
You haven't been on the shot serious long term, so you have a better chance of it clearing your system fast.

Go back to get your next shot, they are required to do a pregnancy test before they give it to you.

I've never missed a depo shot by more than a few days but I've never heard of needing a preggy test before getting it. Though in some places that may differ

You have a window of time as to when to get the shots... if you go outside that window before getting your next shot you must get a pregnancy test before getting the shot again.

At the moment I can't recall the exact window of time. But as a CMA, we are not allowed to give anyone woman a depo shot if she has gone longer than allowed... we must give her a pregnancy test because if she is in fact pregnant the shot can cause miscarriage.

Hey I've been on the depro for 4 poss 5 years now! They say its every 12 weeks, but you are safe up to 14 but they will do a test beforehand. Im sure you will be fine but you do need to get the shot asap. It does take a few months - even a year to leave your system. But you just never know - if you don't want children, it isn't worth the risk! X
