Why did my light turn on by itself?
I have a ceiling fan with three light bulbs in it. The switch that toggles up and down on the wall was in the on or up position, but the pull chain on the fan had been pulled down to turn the light off. A separate pull chain had been pulled to pull the fan off. So... the ceiling fan and the lights were off, but the switch on the wall was in the on position. The lights suddenly turned on, then off, and then tried to come on again, flickered for a few seconds and then went off again. It freaked me out. I was just starting to watch a scary movie. This is the only time this has happened. Is there a reasonable explanation? My Tv in my bedroom changes channels by itself quite frequently, mostly at night, but I was told that was because a neighbor has satellite TV also, and I guess our remotes are warring with each other, but what's the explanation for the light? Thanks

Sounds like a bad light switch on fan(pull switch is about $3, or not in the full on/off position.
The Satellite receiver is either IR(Infrared-line of sight)/RF(Rado Frequency-through walls) or both.
If IR only, you may have a remote transmitting, blocking TV input or remote output(put in drawer)will determine if your remote is the problem.
IF RF, maybe turn down antenna so it will pick up more nearby remotes and not the neighbors. May be able to change code for receiver. What Receiver?

    Is it a remote fan?
