This is my first question here but I have an Chihuahua that is pregnant by my Shih Tzu and she is now 57 days along today can you tell me when they normally deliver? She looks as though she couldn't possibly get any bigger. Thanks so much!

Ahh, chihuahuas are difficult to breed because they are small and prone to being weak... how big is the shih tzu? (ow big will the puppies be, your dog may not be able to handle it)

Please don't breed dogs unless you know more about them, it could be dangerous for your dog!

Gestation for a chihuahua is usually about 63 days, but can be 58-68 days.. so if she seems like she is about to burst, it's because she just about is!

When the time comes, if she struggles a lot or has a lot of bleeding or anything really scary, DO NOT hesitate to call a veterinarian, emergency, day or night.

Having carelessly let your female get bred, you have had 2 months to do some of the reading you should done before. Get to the library and check out any books on breeding and read the sections on whelping. Have a vet examine her and discuss if she will need a Cesarean. If so, it would have been cheaper to have spayed her.

This Shih Tzu, is he some outstanding specimen that is worth breeding, or should he have been neutered? I can't understand people that let such breedings take place. Does it mean anything to you that you are adding to the misery that leads to slaughtering millions of dogs a year for lack of homes?
