    Del sol no start.
I have a 94 honda del sol, with a 93 civic 1.5L motor with a 1.6L v-tec head. It cranks but won't start. I've checked all of the wiring, everything is receiving power. The main relay is good and working. Using a jump wire and grounding the fuel pump on the relay causes the fuel pump to come on. The distributer as well as the injectors are receiving power, but I have no spark or fuel when cranking or attempting to start. The ecu/ecm is new as well as the distributer, cap, rotor, and ignition wires. The only concern that I have is that my MAP sensor wires and cupling on the engine harness is non-existent, So the sensor is not connected to the ecu/ecm. Most vehicles will start without it, but I'm not sure if that's my problem. Any thoughts on why it won't start?

Has Frank ever started since it was built. Fuel and spark timing come from the distributor through the ECU and that is it. How do you know that you do not have fuel injection squirting fuel.

The motor was running before it was swapped from the 93 civic to the 94 del sol, the wiring harness was taken from another civic that was parted out. The injectors have power but if I pull them out and crank the fuel doesn't squirt, and no fuel can be smelled in the exaust. I know the pump runs, but it doesn't turn on for that 2 seconds when the car is put in the on position.

Yes, your car won't start if the MAP Sensor is not connected properly.

Thi initial 2 second fuel pump prime comes from the ECU grounding one of the relays within the 2 relay unit commonly called the Main Relay. If the fuel pump comes on during cranking but does not come on for the 2 seconds then the Main Relay is good and the ECU is bad.

You are going to have to bevery sure of this, the CEL should come on for those 2 seconds also initially. The other relay within the 2 relay unit is for the injector power and ECU power (portion) so that relay is working also.

Do you have the CEL on for 2 seconds when the key is first turned on, are you sure the fuel pump does not get power for these 2 seconds and that the Main Relay (fuel pump relay portion) does not engage and that the fuel injectors get power right away.

It appears from the previous statement that you either have a wiring problem or a bad ECU. You have hot wired the fuel pump and you still have no injection. If the distributor is sending its signals to the ECU and the wiring is all good, then I suspect the ECU as the problem. Please verify above items for us.

There are different MAPs based on engine and years, every Honda has one in it is PGMFI so there has to be wiring for it unless it was accidentally cut or ripped out, work on that then maybe the ECU will start working??

So my problem is most likely that the MAP sensor is disconnected?
