My dog will eat anything but his food
    Hi.
My 5 month old puppy lately is not so much into eating his puppy food anymore. It will take him a few hours to even consider eating his food but he will eat and chew on stuff outside in the yard and whatever he can find! He was chewing on an apple and even eating sunflower seeds from the bird feeder. He will eat grass and dirt. I don't know if he is just not as hungry as he used to be, but I don't know if this is not normal for a puppy. I don't feed him any human food (except carrots once in a while, and I know my boyfriend will sneak him some popcorn) but he hasn't had any of that for about a week. I don't know if he is just waiting to see if I will feed him some of my food, but I firm on not doing that. Any insight would be helpful! Thank you!

Apple seeds are very dangerous for dogs , I don't see it on here but I am sure that I have seen it somewhere else. I will post a list of some of the everyday items food and non that are dangerous for your dog. The No-No List from the aspca
Do not feed your dog the following:

Thanks for the info about my question. I don't think he gets to the core part of the apples, but I will definitely watch him on that. He normally had a good appetite and that is what is worrying me. I was wondering if the food sits out too long it might get stale and he might not want to eat it then? However, while I'm training him, I reward with treats and those he won't deny having!! But I don't want him to get full on the treats either. I don't think he is depressed because I am around most of the time and if I'm not my boyfriend is, so he gets a lot of attention. Maybe since it is becoming winter and he isn't as active he doesn't have much of an appetite, but to not eat at least half of the serving is what is concerning me. But I think that I will bring him into the vet this week just to be safe. Again thank you for the suggestions and information!

Your pup may not like the type of dog food your feeding him so that may be why he's looking for other things to eat. Maybe try changing the brand of dog food or go to a vet. - don't quote me on this- Just Trying to help/

I would change his food. Or like I did with my own puppy add a little can puppy food to his dry with some water and try to give it to him. He may just need a change. After I started this a few days a weeks ours started eating the dry food again. It just gets tired like we do of the same food all the time. They make can puppy food, it doesn't take much like maybe 3 table spoons in a small bowl maybe 1 tsp of water to help mix it. The water helps coat the dry food and give it a different taste, aiding the puppy to a different tasting food. If nothing else try to change his food. He/she may not be getting good nutrition and vitamins. Some foods have a lot of corn in them which any animal has trouble digesting. If you go to places like Pets Supplies Plus, or another store for pets they usually can recommend something if you are unsure. Just remember the more meat and veggies in it the healthier it is. I prefer to feed my puppy Pedigree, I have learned she can have a little adult food but she still needs her puppy food for the vitamins. Good luck!
