    Hard Drive Failure ?
    Hello,
Im here for some advice, if anyone can help.
I have a friend, he has a Packerd Bell IMedia 1307.
Friday night he shut it down, as usual, no problems.
Tried to use it on Sat, nothing.
The power comes on the fans begin and then stop after a few seconds.
The hard drive doesn't even seem to start.
The lights on the keyboard flash on & off, no signal is being sent to the monitor, so the possibility of gaining access even to setup is impossible.
The power button remains on & there is access to the cd-drive (have tried boot-cd-nothing)
All cables have been checked, the PC has not been banged, kicked or even shouted at.
The PC is about 4 mnths old bought new from PC world & is under warranty, therefore any internal observations cannot be done.
I refuse to phone the 75p-a-minute help line and any emails I send are sent back, as unsuccessful.
    Is this hard drive failure?
If so is it recoverable. Is there anything I can try, without opening the thing up? The last thing my friend wants is for the PC to be taken away, he's ready to take it back to the shop & try & get money back instead of going through the messing about this will no doubt incure as soon as we ask for an engineer.

Any advice at all would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Samantha

Simple really, unplug it, box it up and take it back to the store you bought it from. They have the facalities to test it.
You are correct in not wasting your money on the hell line as they are more than likely in India and won't help any way.

PCWorld are well known, in the UK, for sell sub standard kit.

    Problem
    Hi,
I agree with Curlyben... take it back to the store. Let them either fix it, or replace it, under warranty.
You could spend a lot of time trying to figure out what is wrong, and not accomplish anything.
I do wish you the best of luck.
