    Time management dilemma
    How do I help my teen with time management when I do not possess this skill in my life. My daughter starts her homework in the late pm's then cannot get out of bed in the morning to make the bus. She is missing plenty of school and is suffering depression also and refuses to take her medication, she is a top chick and I worry if I push her she will top herself. I am most often at my wits end because I have small children whom I have to care for also.

    Homework should be one of the first things she does when she gets home from school. Although a teen, she has a bedtime right? Time management isn't that hard to grasp... you just have to stick to it.
    Sample:
    Home @ roughly 3pm.
    Snack=30 min
    Homework=2-3 hrs. (puts you @ 6:30 latest)
    Dinner=1 hr
    Rest, TV or phone and chores=1 hr
    Shower and ready for bed=30 min... here you are @ 9pm. That should be plenty of sleep time before school.
    Look at it like a day-planner. Have her write what needs to be done and fill in the time slots. Set a timer if you have to and mark it off as she finishes.

    Hope this helps some. (Maybe it will better yourself with time management as well as your teen) Good Luck :)

    Are you home when she gets home from school? If so have her sit down have a snack and get to her homework right away, every day. You two can use the snack time to chat. Push the home work and bed time. Teens need as much discipline and structure as younger kids do.
