I recently moved from the marital home.(Divorce)I did not have an attorney to represent
me because I could not afford one and because I had excepted the fact I would be moving.I was OK with it.I am trying to move with problem after problem.Including the
weather(rain)My x-husband's son is moving in the house,all though I didn't know it at the
time.Anyway's my x-husband's son came to the house and changed the locks.Keeping me
from getting in.I did not know how to get in touch with him.I had to leave message's with
other family members.Finally ,after four days, I get to finish getting my things out of the house.But I still have a garage full of things... riding lawn mower,push mower,tools,paint,
christmas decoration,boxes packed full of things I have had for years and years.I told
my x-husband's son I would be back the next day to finish the garage.When I returned
he would not let me get my things.He said I would have to take him to court.I phoned the
judge and explained.He said he would get in touch with him and tell him to give me my
things. Again I go back and once again he refuses to comply.I phoned the judge again.
This time the judge tells me I will have to talk to an attorney.That he had done all he could.What?? I can't believe this is happening.
Can anyone advise me on what I might be able to do without an attorney?Small claims??

Try one last time to get your things. See if the local police will accompany you. They may or may not ; a lot of police don't want to get involved with "civil" matters. If you are accompanied by the police your ex-stepson may cave and let you get your things. If that tactic doesn't work, either because the police won't get involved or your ex-stepson doesn't give in even in the presence of the police, then you'll have to go to court.

Unfortunately small claims sounds like your only answer. Where I'm from there's a filing fee but you can tack that on the list of what you want. My quess is he'll give in once the papers are served so you'll be out the $60 (that's what it cost here!) So is it worth the $60? Probably!

Whose name is on the deed to the home ? If you are still the owner or listed resident of the home on a lease, no one can stop you from getting your things.
