My fience has been a heavy drinker since he was 15 and is getting put on anti booze tablets. Only problem is I don't really no what this involves a few people have took use that he needs to change his food diet and after shaves. Then some people have told us that he doesn't need to do any of that. If any of you no anything about this can you let me no please

If you tell us the name of the anti booze pill it might help.
The only one that I know of antabuse makes you deathly sick if you do drink.
It is like psychological think where you know you don't want to get that sick so you don't drink. There is a seizure medicine Topiramate that is good for stopping drinking too.

I worked with the chemically depedant in a halfway house setting and I never heard of anyone having to change their after shave or diet. I do no he'll be one sick puppy if he does drink while taking antibus or what ever he's on.

I have heard of cases where people did get sick with Scope and the like, anything with alcohol in it, Antabuse(sp?) is the only one I have ever heard of to treat this, but I am not in the drinking career anymore.

It sounds like he might want to consider AA, or a smiler support group to get assistance in this area of his life( you might consider Al-Anon for supporting him too!)

Antibuse is the name of the pill and you have to stay away from ALL forms of alcohol, including cough medicine, alcohol wipes (used before I give a shot), to after shave, etc.
