Lighting gas water heater and furnace
Last summer we shut off the furnace pilot light by turning the valve to off. When we tried to relight the older carrier furnace we could not. Someone turned the valve of to the water heater. Now we can not light either.

Start at the meter and work to the furnace looking for shut off valves. Usually the valve is open if the handle is parallel to the pipe.
