Interior flooring for a pier and beam home
I want to tear out the all the interior carpet and install natural wood floors throughout the house and tiles in the dining room and kitchen areas. I have been told I can not do that on a pier and beam home due to the weight of the materials and shifting of the land. What are my options? I am from Texas... if that will help answer fully my question... Thank you...

I am not too clear on the pier and beam, although I did work in New Orleans for a year, and did see what they had for supports.

I can't imagine you having a weight problem if the weight is already supported on the existing structure and carpet is removed( that alone removes a lot of weight) adding a hardwood floor( maybe you will use a simulated hardwood instead of a 3/4 inch true hardwood?)

And tile is going to cover how much area?

If its too big an area, re support the floor joists, even adding a post if necessary.

Just an idea, hope this helps,

    Ken
