    Cable TV extension
Hi all, I have cable TV and wish to move the TV to the other side of the room. I have been told you can't buy the cable from the stores and it is a job for the cable TV supplier. I only want to move the box and TV about 12 feet and have been told this will cost me about 80 pounds or 180 usd. This seems a crazy price. Can anyone advise please.
    Thanks
    Richard.

If you go to the cable office usually they will cut you enough cable to allow you to move your TV.

In the US we just go into a Radio-Shack store and purchase as much cable as we need.
You can crimp or twist on the connectors. Crimp tool prices are variable.
You usually can't get a female end that attached to a cable unless you order it, but a coupler works just as well.

Farnell UK - world-leading distributor of electronic and maintenance, repair and operations products.

I checked here and they have cable, but you'll have to buy a lot of it but they are discontinuing the connectors. They also have no couplers.

What you need is RG 59 or RG6 cable which is 75 ohm.
The cable input is usually an "F connector"
