Worm/Flea control - overlap of treatments?
    Hello,

Our puppy (cavoodle - 12 weeks old) is due for her flea control treatment soon, but is not due for her worm control in another 2 months.

I would like to start using a 3 in 1 product - out of convenience. Is it OK if I started feeding her a 3 in 1 product such as Sentinel Spectrum now? Would there be any concerns of overlap of products because she is not due for her worm tablets for another 2 months? She was previously wormed using Illium Pyraquantal by the pet store.

    Thanks in advance.

This time of the year, I have my dogs on Heartgard+. It controls heart worm and several other types of worms. If you don't see any sign of fleas, you may not need a flea remedy. If you live where a harsh winter is setting in now, you may be safe skipping the heart worm rememdy. Pull the hair up in front of the base of the tail. If you don't see or feel any dark, reddish specks, chances are, you don't have any fleas. I never give my dogs any worm remedy other than the Heargard+ and in the summer, the Revolution I have been using since we had an older dog come to live with us. As long as we only had one healthy young dog in the house, we didn't have to do anything about fleas for years.

What I would do is get out whatever shot records the pet store gave you and call the vet you plan to use. Give them the date of the last shot, likely DLCPP, and let them suggest when to bring the puppy in for the next shot. Take a stool sample. Let the vet sort out what the puppy really needs.
