I really can't remember much about this movie, and most people my age usually just smile and nod when I mention it. It is kind of anime style with a little girl. I think it starts in a forest, but then she has to battle to save all of the creatures from turning into stone. It may even be earlier then 80's but that's when I would have watched it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Possibly "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" (1979) It has a little girl who fights in a battle where the creatures are being turned into stone and It starts in a forest. (well It starts as a hide and seek game in an old house but the forest comes very soon after).

no... I know that movie. I think the stone people may even be in the form of towers or buildings? And fall apart at the end. The animation is pretty rough from what I remember

Thanks guys. I searched this site for 2 1/2 hours the other day (dial-up), hoping to find the answer. I finally gave in to posting the question, only to find my answer 10 minutes later!

In "Return to Oz" the evil Mombi turns things to stone. Just a guess. I have the movie on DVD.

Well, "Return to Oz" wasn't anime. Sorry.
