I have a pregnant cat and she only had one kitten earlier this year and she is being very mean to her kitten, is this normal?

So, the kitten is about a year old right. Is it a male cat. I don't think she wants that cat around her any longer because she is pregnant again and if it is a male cat, then she is afraid it will harm her kittens when she has them.

We had the kitten at the beginning of this summer and it's mom and daughter.

2 females will fight. The family unit is not like that of humans, the momma could care less about that being her daughter. Not having either one spayed will only make the problems worse.
When the younger cat matures then their relationship will get worse. There will be fights to determine rank or one could even possibly leave. Once rank is determined that will not always bring peace, because the lower one can always decide to challenge.
I have 3 females 1 male 2 are blood relatives, all neutered/spayed while he is the king the females have disputes one is the boss for awhile and then it changes. I can't imagine the problems I would have if they all had hormone issues to contend with.
It would probably be more peaceful if you had them spayed. Also there are health issues to consider. Males cats won't be spraying your door or having cat fights over trying to court your female. Also your cats can have around 3 litters per year. What will you do with all of the kittens from 2 females?
