Hole possibly developing on gum above front tooth following crown
Hi, I had a crown put in during January following a badly chipped tooth. The procedure went fine, it was a little uncomfortable but no real problems. A few months down the line I noticed the gum tissue above the tooth (one of my top front teeth). Was still feeling bruised. It is a little darker than the surrounding tissue. It also still feels a little tender. Well, it still feels like that now and I have noticed a small hole at the edge of the gum where it meets my tooth/crown. I wasn't sure if this was normal at all. It looks a lot like an ulcer but I've never had one actually on my gums before and I think it's a little strange its right on the join of my tooth and gum, that it could be the tooth I can see under it rather than ulcerated tissue and also that it bleeds without much pressure... Is this normal, something I should wait out.. Or can/should something be done about this?

    Thanks

I'd suggest you go back to the dentist who inserted the crown. You may have some residual cement at the gumline causing the inflammation and tenderness. This is NOT normal.
