    Toilet on concrete
I am new to bathroom remodeling and I have removed the toilet to find a cement floor with a pipe that went to the toilet. It is approximiately 3-4 inches in diameter. It does not appear to have a toilet flange and the screws to hold the toilet down are cemented in and boken in half. Any suggestions of what to do in order to reattach the toilet? When I took the old toilet off it did not have a wax seal either, will I be able to attach one to the new toilet without a flange? Thanks for the help.

Back in the old days we didn't have closet flanges or wax seals. A toilet flange only function is to hold the toilet down.
Drill out the screws in the cement and replace with plastic inserts, Purchase a wax seal and 2 wood screw closet bolts. The closet bolts will screw into the plastic inserts and from there you set the toilet just the same as if there were a flange. Good luck, tom

Biggsie, Ahhh! You young guys. 50/60 years ago we whittled wooden pegs and hammered them down in the holes and screwed the closet bolts into those. Cheers, Tom

In 1944 I was in Milwaukee being inducted into the Navy. I was born in 1927.
