I have a few questions with regards to having a vasectomy:

1. How much pain is involve in that operation?

2. After the surgery, what is the recovery time?

3. Is there scars involve?

4. When your having sex, what happens to your sperm? And what does it feel like when you climax?

1) Very little to any pain as the area is anesthetized.
2) Recovery is usually only a day or two. Just be sure to follow doctor's orders and don't overdo it.
3) Very minimal if any
4) Climax feels the same it's just that the sperm cannot escape into the semen.

Dc, it doesn't affect your sex drive, erection, ejaculation,. everything stays the same, you still have your testicles, the only difference is what J_9 has told you. The incisions are so small, once healed, you look exactly the same and no woman would be able to tell the difference. Very little discomfort the first couple of days and it is an in and out procedure in a doctors office. Glad to see you are considering it. Speak to your doctor about it for more details.

Do you still feel like a man when it's over? I've never been able to withstand pain especially in my genital area.

Of course you still feel like a man! My, my! No change in that my dear! Yes, you will feel a little discomfort for a few days, but it isn't major pain. Just make sure you find a doctor who does this procedure often. He will explain everything to you and tell you exactly what to expect.

A vasectomy surgically blocks the vas deferens, preventing sperm from becoming part of the seminal fluid that leaves the body at sexual climax. Vas deferens are the thin tubes in the scrotum that would normally carry sperm from the testicles to become part of the ejaculate. When the sperm channel is interrupted, the man becomes sterile and can no longer father a child.

How It's Done

Am very glad to see you are considering the vasectomy. Both my brothers had theirs and reported minimal discomfort after and not being able to wear jeans for a couple days. Ask your doctor but he will say what J has said and that should be a reassurance for you. Millions of men have done this and you have no reason to doubt that you will not be able to return to full functioning. Good luck to you.

I'm a bit late on this, but I can tell you essentially the same thing the others have:

1. The "numbing up" is the worst part, but only the first stick or two. After than, it's cake. Just make sure you tell the doc if you require more numbing than other folks. For instance, the dentist has to stick me way more than other people--I don't know why. The urologist discovered this to be the case, as well. The colorful language alerted him.

2. I went out for lunch with my wife and friends immediately after leaving the doc's. That night was mildly discomforting, mainly because I kept forgetting and scratching and "shifting." I broke that habit pretty rapidly...

3. Again, minimal if any.

4. Everything's the same. Maybe even better, since you can relax with the pregnancy concerns. Makes for more spontenaity and such.

Any specific questions, message me. I had mine done 3 years ago now, and have had zero problems. I was terrified going in, doc gave me a valium (which probably saved his life :) ), and off we went. No big deal. A couple of times it sort of hurt--kind of like getting kicked in the 'nads, but not so bad that it couldn't be endured. If I remember right, the worst part was getting no beer for a day or two (bleeding concerns).
