    Adequate testing?
Hello please I need an answer urgently... I had unprotected sex a few times (the first time was not more than a year ago).. cause the partners seemed so sure they're clean.. (I don't do this again.. never) but I'm afraid I catched some STD (even though there's no apparent sign.. im still anxious about this) and unfortunately.. in my closed minded society I can't take other than a blood test... so I must know.. are these kind of diseases (STD.. HIV) noticeable in a regular non specific blood test? (by the lymphocyte number... etc..? ) I have no idea I'm so worried... If yes how long should I wait to take it after the unprotected sex?

HIV can live dorment up to 6months. They are all done through blood. Some through swabs of the fluid of the penis. You should go to your doctors and have a FULL STD CHECK... Do not have UNPROTECTED SEX always protect yourself. Please I so encourage you to go and get tested because its better to be safe then sorry. Good luck to you.

These infections are not routinely screened for when taking blood. The doctor must order specific tests such as the ELISA test or Western Blot test for HIV/AIDS. Specific tests must also be ordered by the doctor for STDs.

While routine screenings may find a high WBC, that does not diagnose the particular problem and further tests need to be run.

Many STDs are asymptomatic until later in the disease process. Once a woman is sexually active she should have yearly visits to her GYNO.
