Can employer take out taxes if I'm being paid 1099
I know I'm responsible for my own taxes but my new employer wants to take out his taxes out of my commissions and also pay me via a 1099 does this sound right? Any advice would be very welcome

Nope. A 1099 does not require any wihholding. There are no taxes for the employer to pay.

    Scott:

    That is NOT true.

If the employer and employee agree, state and federal income taxes CAN be withheld even if the "employee" is being paid under Form 1099-MISC.

Granted, that does not happen often, but it IS an option.
