    Solve this equation
    This would be an equation if it ended with "equals zero".

    Assuming that is what you intended, the largest exponent of x is 2. That makes this a quadratic equation. There is a formula called the quadratic formula which you can use to solve quadratic equations. See if you can find this formula in your textbook, and the answer to your question will become apparent.

    Hi,
    Your equation is 2x squared -3x - 10 = 0.
    Since you can't factor it, such as (2x-5)(x+2) = 0, because that gives 2x squared -x - 10 = 0, which is not correct. then use the quadratic equation.
    The quadratic equation is:

    y = +- square root of (b squared - 4(a)(c) divided by 2(a).
    It's difficult to write this out here in equation form.
    As the other answer stated, look in you book for the Quadratic Equation. then substitute the numbers, as:
    a = 2
    b = -3
    c = -10
