    Toilet and Shower Drain Issue
    Hi,

I moved into a brand new house 6 weeks ago.

Over the last two weeks I have been having intermittent problems with the shower drain and the toilet next to it.

The toilet will sometimes fill up with water whilst flushing and take quite a whil to go down to normal level. Also sometimes the shower will take a long time to drain. If I use a plunger on the shower drain, then air is forced out the toilet and sometimes vice versa. When using ythe shower sometimes the toilet is gurgling.

I have tried off the shelf drain unblocking chemicals, but it hasn't fixed my problem.

Anyone know what is causing it and how to fix it?

    Thanks,

    Matt

    Hi Matt,

Sounds like your lavatorys vent is blocked and not relieving the suction caused by draining water. The lavatory vent services the entire bathroom group so it's important that it's open and operating. Your home's under a New Home Warranty. Call your builder back and have him send out the plumber at no charge to you. Good luck in your new home. Tom
