    Pull Chain Replacement
I turned off my power and went to the hardware store to purchase a replacement pull chain light switch for my ceiling fan/light only to find upon my return that the little woman thought she would help me by removeing the old switch and bulb socket plate without labeling old wires. So here is my problem, I have the bulb/plate with pull chain switch here in front of me. It is a 3 (three) bulb unit with 1 (one) white and 1 (one) black wire coming from each socket for a total of 6 wire's ( not including the 2 (two) black wires coming from new pull switch ). I have 2 ( two ) wires coming out of my ceiling fixture 1 black and 1 white. Can anyone please explain how to rewire including what wire on new switch do I connect to 'hot' THANK YOU ! :)

This is fairly simple if the new switch only has 2 wires, and you can accept all 3 light being off or on. Connect all the white wires together. Connect the black feed wire to either one of the black wires on the switch. Connect the other black wire from the switch to the 3 black wires from the bulbs.

If you want to control how many bulbs are on, you will need a more complex switch. Likely it will come with 4 wires one of which is labeled L1 or something. Connect it to the black feed wire, and the bulb black wires to the other 3.
