I am trying to understand the problem. Are you saying that if you turn the power on to the furnace the furnace comes on no matter where the thermostat is set? If you take the wires off the thermostat does the furnace go off? What type of furnace?

    Hi,
I highly suggest calling a reputable repair person. You can check around in your local area, find out who is good, and what their normal charges are, to make a trip.

The wires could be shorted between the furnace and the thermostat. If you did as HVAC suggested, would the furnace still come on as soon as you turned the power on? If not, check the wires. If they are damaged, likely it is in a place where you can get to. It might just mean taping them up a little. No sense paying a $100 service call for that. If you don't find the problem, post back for more suggestions.

I don't understand why the blower is coming on right away too unless the furnace is still warm from the last cycle. The limit switch could be bad, or the relay that runs the blower.

Fred doesn't know much about furnaces and is quick to suggest calling a service man in areas he knows little about.
