I was just wondering if it was very hard to change a valve gasket on a 2003 kia spectra and how would I go about doing it?

This procedure for the VALVE COVER GASKET should be in the Haynes repair manual, $15 @. Check your local library for a free usage copy.
Have the new gasket, some sealer, some clean rags and your tools ready ahead of starting.Quote:

Remove the sparkplug wires from the spark plugs and set aside. It should not be necessary to disconnect them from the distributor.
Remove the bolts/nuts securing the valve cover to the cylinder head.
Gently pry the cover upwards and remove.
If the gasket has become brittle, be careful if pieces should break off.
Don't allow them to fall into the valve train area.
Thoroughly clean both the valve cover and the mating surface on the cylinder head.
Apply a small dab of sealer to the points of sharp turns.
Install the gasket and cover. Snug tightly: approx 8 - 10 ft lbs.
Allow sealer over night to cure.
Check oil level and inspect for leaks.
