    Hyperpigmentation on face
I had some Fraxel laser treatments a few months ago which left me with hyperpigmentation in my cheeks - darkish freckles which have not faded once the summer has ended. I did wear very high SPF sun block following the Fraxel and all summer. From my own research it seems rather like a pregnancy mask but I am not taking any form of medication - hormonal or otherwise. My dermatologist says that it could have been a reaction to the dye used before the fraxel laser treatment and that it will fade. However, I have my doubts.

What products could you recommend to lighten this area of pigmentation which does not damage the skin? I am quite fair skinned with dark blond hair going grey. Aged late 40s.

I am wondering about Meladerm and the Australian product John Plunketts super fade.
    Grateful for any input.

Laser treatments can cause hyperpigmentation or darkening of the skin. If you have discolorations on your face due to laser treatments that won't fade away, you will need to use creams containing hydroquinone, Retin A, or kojic acid to help fade treat the pigmentation. These products are available at a pharmacy in the United Sates, but you may not be able find them at the stores in London. However, your dermatologist may have creams to help treat and clear up the discolorations. Please make an appointment to see your dermatologist for treatment options.

Thank you for this - it is very helpful. My dermatologist is not that helpful as he does not want to admit that his treatment had anything to do with my problem! He has recommended one of his creams which are on sale here but it does not contain the ingredients that you mention. I do however, use Retin A on its own every other night.
    Thanks again.
