To not speak to them on the phone, tell tell to put it in writing, dispute the alleged debt, when you receive any from them.
Most likely the SOL has expire so they will lose if they take you to court.
Never speak to them again on the phone, they are trained to trick you.
Why wouldn't it be valid? Did you incur the debt? When was the last activity. Its possible that the Statute of Limitations has expired if the account has been dormant for a long time (usually 4-6 years). If so, then they cannot sue you. But that doesn't mean the debt isn't valid nor does it mean they can't dun you for the money.
Pennsylvania Statute of Limitations
Contracts: 4 years, (used to be six).
Contracts under seal: 20 years.
Sale of goods under UCC: 4 years.
Negotiable instruments: 6 years (13 PA C.S.A. . §3118).
