    Unfair practices/discrimination
[B]I am a senior who recently rented an apartment seven months ago. Today. I received a notice for recertification 11/16/07. I moved in here March 20, 2007. Our lease is suppose to be for a year. Next we are also being told to bring down the letter that states our social security increase as soon as I receive it. Also, I have lived in an apartment for seven years and never had to be recertified. Why is this necessary here? I am not a sussidized renter.

    I live in Yorktown Arms I & II - 1300 W. Jefferson Street - Apt 3-12 - Phila PA 19122. I Live in the 10 year old building.

Lastly, I was hired here as the computer teacher. As soon as they discovered that I am "Legaaly blind" and living pass breast cancer, my job was discontinued. I have metastatic breast cancer. During the treatment and surgery I worked that entire year with only missing three class days. I did this job for 4 1/2 years and was never discriminated against because of health or disability. That class always had seven senior students. This class only had three. I feel that management here tactics are disgraceful.

OP writes... "I am not a sussidized renter."... the PROPERTY is probably a subsidized property probably built with tax credits and renters must be below median income so for you to REMAIN as a resident, you need to be re-certified to rent there.

If you don't provide the information, they can terminate your residency under the TERMS of the MORTGAGE of the property and the provisions of your lease.

Provide the information with a smile and a thank you!
