    Sewer gas odor
Now that it is cold, I have a strong septic odor in downstairs bathroom. I thought it was the seal which probably needs replacing. However, today the odor is in the laundry room which is separated from the bath by two rooms. Could this be the roof vent.

I share the same fate as you when it gets cold. My downstairs half-bathroom is the source. The odor is definetely coming from behind the walls. You can smell it pouring out of the vent-fan and electrical sockets. My neighbor units says he smells it from time-to-time too. This is the second year with it - driving us nuts!

I'm experiencing exactly the same thing. The smell wasn't so bad during the warm months, but since the temp started to drop, it's gotten steadily worse. It's worst behind my main floor kitchen sink; when I open the cupboards underneath, it just about knocks me out! I'm hoping it's the sewer vent, or something unlike ripping the sinks out and the walls apart to find and fix it!

I have a very very strong sewer gas smell coming from my downstairs bathroom. We bought the house a few years ago. When I did more research on who did the plumbing it was done by a man the did realastate. The sink pipe is metal, then it goes into pvc pipe. It has one ninety degree pipe in it. We did find a plastic lid in it and got it out. But we still have the very very strong sewer gas smell coming from it. What can I do to solve the problem?
