My fiancée has one testical that is larger than the other. It's not much bigger, just a little. He hasn't been to the doctor for 2 years and I can't get him to go. He is 27 years old, and in good health as far as I know. He has no family history of cancers of any kind. Could the size difference be testicular cancer? He laughed like crazy when I asked him this. He said he regularly checks his testicals (like women do a self breast exam) and everything is normal. I'm not really worried about it, I was just wondering, is this normal? Any tips on getting him to go to the doc every year? Thanks.

Just think. Not all women's breasts are 100% symmetrical. So, it would make sense that not all men's testicles are symmetrical.

Most men's testicles are not the same size and are not at an equal level. This helps to "keep them out of the way of each other."

My son had testicular cancer about 15 years ago. We thought that we were going to lose him. He first noticed a soreness and then rapid growth of the one testicle, to the size of an orange in a few short weeks. He almost died at age 23. The testicle was removed along with a lot of his limp nodes. Testicular cancer spreads by "jumping" through the male's body to areas like the limp nodes. He has a scar from his lower body to his breast bone, but he lived and he is fine. My research and doctors have informed me that survival rates for this type of cancer are not high, he was VERY lucky. He had to go back for several years for check ups.

If he is at all concerned than please have him visit a GOOD doctor. THAT is nothing (the experience of going to the doctor) compared to having it. AND, my son's was caught early, thank God and he is okay now. It spreads very fast.

Please show him this if you want and maybe he will go for a check up at least.

I'm so glad that your son is OK! I will share your post with my fiancée. I don't think he has anything wrong with him right now, but hopefully this will help convince him how important it is to have regular checkups. I think I almost have convinced him to go. I'll keep nagging until he does! :) Thanks again.

Thank you, a son is not supposed to go before his father... he didn't, and I am grateful.

When people are young, particularly men there is a "non destructive" feeling. It isn't going to happen to ME. That ONLY happens to other people. Peggyhill, it can and it does. No testicular cancer was in either side of my family or his mothers. It happens, going to the doctor is good, early detection will raise his chances of survival or ease his and your mind when he is told he does not have it. If he is having ANY discomfort at all, please see a doctor. Being macho or being embarrassed is only a slight discomfort. Imagine the alternative.

Again, good luck, I am sure that he is probably fine. But let's be sure.:)
