I was required to become a notary at a job I no longer work at. They paid for the bond. Am I OK performing as a notary? I know that I will have to obtain a new bond when my commission expires (09). State of Alabama

Yes, you can perform duties as a notary, just be sure you comply with State law, keep records of when, what, who you notarized documents for. Also require identity proof, surrender your notary log to the Judge of Probate in the county you reside in at the end of your term of office. Also, it's recommended by the AL Bar Assoc that if you change your residence from one county to another, that you apply and obtain a new notary commission in your new county of residence. Always notify the Board of Registrars of your change of address also.
