    Bench Warrant
I have a friend that was sent to prison for 5 years for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. He was offered 2 years but decided to go for the jury trial. After the trial he was convicted to 5 years. (He had a terrible court appointed attorney that did absolutely nothing to help him.) He filed an appeal and was sent away to prison. His case is currently under appeal. On 10/19 be was brought back to the county jail on a bench warrant and has been sitting there since. No one will tell him why he is there. We are unsure if it is because of immigration, has something to do with the appeal, has something to do with a corrected judgement from 03/23/2007 - Nunc Pro Tunc listed on the website, or something new has been brought up. When I look on the county website under the charge he was convicted for it says the cause number and this, "08/03/06-UNL POSS FIREARM BY FELON
3rd Degree Felony", when I look on the Sheriff's section is says for the bench warrant: the same cause number and 10/19/07 BW-UNL POSS FIREARM BY FELON WEAPONS FREE ZONE - DENTON DIST.

Maybe could this mean there is another charge they are just now charging him for? When he was arrested in his home and the gun was found, they live right in front of a post office. Could it be that that's why the charge now says, "Weapons free zone"?

What should he or what can I do to find out why he is now in the county jail instead of prison where he was?
