    Non-standard dishwasher installation
Hello, I am installing a dishwasher separate from the sink area. It will be installed very close to the old laundry area. That means supply is easy. But I am a bit confused about the waste issue. In the wall, I have a pipe which the old washing machine 'hose' simply stuck in. shall I assume that there is actually a trap and vent associated with this pipe? I mean, by code, there had to be... right?
Is there an easy way (ie... without tearing out a bunch of gyp) to tell if there is a trap and vent in this waste pipe?
Now, if there is a trap and vent for this waste pipe can I just use a pvc T off it to connect my dishwasher waste using a high loop?
    Thanks in advance... kyle

I would stick with your thinking in the 1st paragraph. How long hasn't a washer been there? If the washer drained the dishwasher will drain. Sounds like a very unusual install by the way.
