You can take a pregnancy test the first day your period is late.

It is different for every woman... the rule of thumb is to take a pregnancy test when you are first late on your period. But it all depends on how your levels of HCG rise... it takes some women longer to register on a HPT. So keep in mind, if you get a negative test and still think you could be pregnant... back it up with a blood test from your doctors.

Disagrees: yes, but if you and your husband wants a child, if it is negative, wait a week and test again if your period is still not there.
