You installed the drain correctly. The rubber gasket goes under the drain while plumbers putty or silicon jel goes under the lip of the drain, Where does it leak from? The putty seal (Putty will remain soft for a long time, is not hard to remove and certainly doesn't need a propane torch to remove it) or something below the drain itself? I would unscrew the drain and recaulk under the lip. Sometimes the putty's spun out when you tighten the drain. Check it out. Good luck, Tom
