Hi,

I have a Honeywell Thermostat MagicStat/32 which is saying (not
Flashing) "bat low." As per the instruction manual, I changed the
Batteries. This did not clear the screen. I tried another set of new
Batteries, which again did not clear the screen. I am sure I put them
In correctly. Is there anything else I can do?

BTW this is right out of your owners manual I guess you did not read it as carefully as you thought.

NOTE: If “bAt Lo” continues to display after replacing the batteries, set System switch to OFF, insert batteries backward,
Wait for five to ten seconds, and return batteries to correct orientation. Then reprogram.

I have this same problem, but reversing and replacing do not work for me. Any other ideas? Quick, it's hot! :)

I have this problem too. When I remove the batteries it still say bAt Lo. I thought it would disappear when I removed the batteries.

I did the reverse the orientation trick and it worked for me. I set the thermostat to "off", removed and reversed batteries , waited 20 sec, then corrected polarity, and turned system back to heat, it blinked twice over a few seconds and is now working.

A different model but after a four hour power outage the "bat lo" message appeared. I tried all kinds of things (replaced the batteries, reversed them, cleaned the contact points, etc.) but the message was still there. Finally this is what I did. - Turn control to off. Remove the batteries for at least one hour. If the display message still reads "bat lo", leave control off, batteries out, and disconnect the red wire on back and wait another hour. Reconnect red wire, put new batteries in and turn system on. It's like a reboot.

You could have done the same thing by turning off the power at breaker box to the furnace, instead of removing the red wire and then replacing

The reversing the battery polarity steps worked for me!

With regards to shutting off the breaker, while this perhaps is true, it may not always be practical. I.E. our system has two zones. So, if I want to shut down the whole house in the middle of winter for an hour (not really) I'll flip the breaker. In our case, removing the red wire temporarily was a better choice. This is just what I did and it worked just fine. BTY hvac1000 not all manuals speak of reversing the bats. Mine doesn't. Maybe you have a shop manual or an updated one but some of us poor regular Joes just have a basic one. The only thing that work for me was disconnecting the power to the stat.
